    • ½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
    • 3 tablespoons (20 g) unsweetened cocoa powder

    Ingredient Notes

    • Unsalted Butter: Use softened butter for a smooth, creamy base. Unsalted butter gives you better control over the saltiness of the dip.
    • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: Choose a good-quality natural or Dutch-processed cocoa powder for the best chocolate flavor.
    • Vanilla Extract: Enhances the overall sweetness and rounds out the chocolate flavor.
    • Salt: A pinch of salt balances the sweetness and intensifies the chocolate taste.
    • Milk or Cream: Adds richness and helps adjust the consistency — use milk for a lighter texture or cream for a more indulgent dip.
    • Mini Chocolate Chips: Add a delightful crunch and extra bursts of chocolate in every bite. You can also use chopped chocolate or a mix of dark and milk chips for variety. Add crunch with white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or even Reese’s Pieces for a fun texture and color.

    Step by Step Instructions

beat butter and sugar till creamy

Place softened unsalted butter and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl (image 1).

Beat on medium speed with an electric hand mixer (or whisk by hand) until the mixture is pale and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes. Scrape the bowl once (image 2).

add vanilla, cocoa powder and salt to the bowl

Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and beat briefly until combined, about 20–30 seconds (image 3).

Sift unsweetened cocoa powder and salt over the bowl. Fold or beat on low until there are no dry streaks and the mixture looks even (image 4).

    add cream and chocolate chips

Add 1 tablespoon of milk or cream until the dip reaches a thick but spoonable consistency (usually 1-2 tbsp total) (image 5).

Gently fold in ½ cup mini chocolate chips until evenly distributed (image 6).

Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with cookies, pretzels, or fruit, or chill for 10–15 minutes for a firmer dip.

    Best Tips

    1. You can prepare the dip in advance and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, let it sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes, then stir well to bring back its creamy texture. Cover with plastic wrap if preparing in advance to prevent it from drying out.
    2. Many brownie dip recipes start with a boxed brownie mix, which often requires extra ingredients and heat-treating the raw flour for safety. This version keeps things simple — using cocoa powder gives the same rich, fudgy flavor without the extra steps.
    3. Sifting the cocoa powder helps remove lumps and makes the dip silky and even.
    4. Add milk or cream gradually - start small and add more as needed to get your preferred consistency — thick yet scoopable.
    5. If you prefer a thicker texture, refrigerate for 10–15 minutes before serving.
    6. Serve with a variety of dippers - try chocolate chip cookies, pretzels, strawberries, apple slices, or nilla wafers for a mix of textures and flavors.
    7. Or serve it with a mix of favorite dippers for added fun — from brownie cookies to chocolate chip dip, or even funfetti dip for baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties, or Super Bowl parties. A sprinkle of mini marshmallows, candy corn, Reese’s Pieces, or white chocolate chips on top adds a little crunch and color. This delicious dessert dip is easy to customize for any occasion — simply change the toppings to match the mood or theme.

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup (113 gms) Unsalted Butter softened
    • 1/2 cup (60 gms) Powdered Sugar sifted
    • 3 tbsp (20 gms) Cocoa Powder
    • 1 tsp Vanilla
    • 1/4 tsp Salt
    • 2-3 tbsp Milk or Heavy cream as needed to adjust consistency
    • 1/2 cup Mini Chocolate chips

    Instructions

    • In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter and powdered sugar using a hand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
    • Beat in vanilla extract until combined.
    • Sift cocoa powder and salt directly over the bowl. Beat on low speed until fully incorporated, with no dry streaks remaining.
    • Add milk or heavy cream, 1 tbsp at a time, until the dip reaches a creamy, spoonable consistency.
    • Gently fold in mini chocolate chips using a spatula.
    • Transfer the brownie batter dip to a serving dish. Enjoy immediately with your favorite dippers like cookies, pretzels, strawberries, or graham crackers — or chill for 15 minutes if you prefer a slightly firmer, scoopable dip.

    Notes

    • For the best flavor, use a high-quality Dutch-processed cocoa powder rather than natural cocoa. Dutch-processed cocoa is smoother, less acidic, and gives that deep, rich “baked brownie” flavor without the slightly bitter notes that natural cocoa can leave behind.
    • Prepare the dip up to 3 days in advance. Store in an airtight container covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature for 15–20 minutes before serving and stir to restore its creamy texture.
    • Unlike brownie batter dips made with raw brownie mix, this version uses cocoa powder — avoiding the need to heat-treat dry ingredients or worry about harmful bacteria.
    • Add peanut butter chips, Reese’s Pieces, or crushed brownie cookies for extra flavor and crunch.
    • For a firmer dip, chill for 10–15 minutes before serving. For a softer dip, add an extra splash of milk or whipped topping.
    • Great for holidays, birthday parties, baby showers, or super bowl parties — this quick, delicious dessert dip is always a crowd favorite.
