Easy Homemade Dark Chocolate Coffee Truffle recipe
This beginner-friendly coffee truffle recipe offers a simple way to create perfectly indulgent truffles, making it a rewarding experience for any home cook.
Start by brewing a strong coffee using your preferred high-quality coffee brand. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
Prepare the Truffle Filling:
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.
Stir in 2-3 tablespoons of strong brewed coffee. At this stage, it might seem that the mixture is about to curdle but keep mixing and it will come together.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour it over the finely chopped chocolate. Let it sit for a minute to melt the chocolate. Stir the chocolate and coffee cream mixture until it's smooth and well combined. If the chocolate is not fully melted you can put the pan back on low heat and mix until combined.
Add the butter and stir that too until combined
Do a taste test and adjust the amount to your taste for a stronger coffee flavor. Mix well.
Chill the chocolate mixture:
Cover the top of the bowl with plastic wrap, ensuring the plastic wrap touches the surface of the filling to prevent a skin from forming. Refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours or until it's firm enough to handle.
Shape the Truffles:
Once the mixture has chilled and firmed up, use a cookie scoop, spoon, or a melon baller to scoop out small portions of the mixture on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. I used 2 tsp of truffle mixture to make one coffee truffle.
Place the baking tray in the refrigerator to chill for 15 mins.
Roll each portion into a small ball with your hands. You can dust your hands with some cocoa powder to prevent sticking.
Place the balls back on the baking tray and chill again for another 5 mins.
Finally roll the balls one last time to smoothen the surface
Coat the Truffles:
Roll each truffle in melted chocolate. Garnish with some sea salt, nuts or coffee beans.

Notes
Prep in Advance: Measure and prepare all ingredients and equipment before starting to make the process smoother.
Use Quality Ingredients: Invest in good quality chocolate and coffee, as this forms the foundation for best results.
Avoid Water Contact: Ensure no water comes into contact with the chocolate, as even a drop can cause it to seize.
Chill Before Shaping: Refrigerate the mixture until it's firm enough to shape, which makes it less messy and more manageable.
Dust Hands: Lightly dust your hands with cocoa powder when shaping truffles to prevent sticking.
Experiment with Coatings: Feel free to experiment with different coatings like cocoa powder, powdered sugar, or chopped nuts for a variety of textures and flavors.
Taste as You Go: Taste the mixture to ensure it matches your desired coffee flavor.
Melted Chocolate: I prefer and recommend using Instant Pot to melt chocolate if you own one as it keeps the chocolate melted at the right temperature.
