Fresh, Frozen or Canned Pineapple
This recipe can be adapted to use any type you have in hand.
- Fresh Pineapple: Provides the most vibrant and fresh flavor, ideal for those seeking the fullest pineapple taste in their popsicles. It requires peeling and cutting but offers a rewarding taste experience.
- Frozen Pineapple: Convenient option that maintains much of the flavor and nutrition of fresh pineapple. Frozen pineapple chunks are readily available in most grocery stores, making them a hassle-free choice for quick popsicle preparation.
- Canned Pineapple: Offers convenience and a longer shelf life. While it may not have the same freshness as fresh or frozen pineapple, it still provides a sweet and juicy flavor. Ensure to use canned pineapple chunks packed in juice or water and not in any kind of syrup, and drain them well before using them in the popsicle recipe.
For the most vibrant flavor and an authentic tropical taste, I highly recommend using fresh pineapple to create homemade pineapple popsicles.
Ingredients
- Pineapple - Peel, cut, and core the pineapple. Chop it into chunks. If opting for frozen pineapple, allow it to thaw overnight in the refrigerator to ease the blending process.
- Sugar - When using fresh or frozen pineapple, taste it to gauge its sweetness, adjusting accordingly to your preference. If opting for canned pineapple, ensure there is no added sugar, preserving the natural sweetness of the fruit.
- Lemon Juice - This can be substituted with lime juice.
- Pineapple Essence - It is optional but adding a little essence amps up the pineapple flavor in this recipe
- Spicy Garnishing - Combine salt and chilli powder (or cayenne pepper) to sprinkle on top of the popsicles.
