    Peanut Butter Corn flake Bars

These cornflake squares are a true lifesaver when you want something quick, satisfying, and completely fuss-free.

With just a few simple ingredients like creamy peanut butter, honey, and corn flakes, you can stir everything together in a large bowl, press it into a square pan, and top it off with a smooth layer of chocolate.

No stove top, no bake recipes—just mix, chill, and cut into the most delicious cereal treats that double up as school snacks, an easy dessert, or a sweet surprise for any day of the week.

    Ingredients

ingredients needed to make corn flake bars
    • 1/2 cup peanut butter
    • 1/2 cup honey
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 4 cups Cornflakes
    • 180 gms chopped chocolate or 1.5 cups chocolate chips

    Notes:

    • Peanut Butter: Use creamy peanut butter for the best texture and easy mixing. If using natural peanut butter, make sure it's well-stirred and not too runny, as it can make the bars too soft or sticky.
    • Honey: Maple syrup or brown rice syrup can be used, but may change the texture slightly.
    • Cornflakes: Use plain corn flakes and slightly crush them with your hands before mixing. This helps the bars stick together better and gives a more compact texture.
    • Chopped Chocolate (180 g or 1½ cups chocolate chips): This forms the layer of chocolate on top. You can use dark, semi-sweet, or, milk chocolate depending on your preference. Melt gently in a safe bowl (microwave or double boiler) and spread evenly over the base. Let it set before cutting.

    Step by Step Instrucitons

adding wet ingredients to crushed corn flakes

In a small bowl, mix together peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined (image 1).

Add corn flakes to a large bowl and gently crush them with your hands or the back of a spoon—just enough to break them slightly for better binding.

Pour the honey mixture over the crushed cornflakes and mix well until the cereal is evenly coated (image 2).

press the corn flake honey mixture on to a square pan and top with chocolate

Line a square pan with parchment paper. Transfer the mixture into the pan and press it down firmly using a spatula or the back of a spoon to create an even layer (image 3).

Melt the chopped chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler. Pour the melted chocolate over the cornflake mixture and spread it out evenly with a spatula (image 4).

Place the pan in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours or until the bars are set and the chocolate is firm.

Once set, remove the block from the pan and cut into bars or squares. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for best results.

    Storage Instructions

    • Refrigerator:
Store the bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. This helps them stay firm and prevents the chocolate layer from melting, especially in warmer climates.
    • Room Temperature:
If your kitchen is cool, you can keep the bars at room temperature for 1–2 days. Make sure they’re stored in a cool, dry place and in a sealed container to maintain freshness.
    • Freezer:
These bars also freeze well! Wrap them individually in parchment paper and store in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge or at room temperature before serving.

Tip: Place a small piece of parchment between layers if stacking to prevent sticking.

    Best Tips

    • Line the Pan with Parchment Paper this makes it easy to lift the bars out of the square pan and ensures clean edges when you cut bars later.
    • These bars are perfect for prepping in advance! You can make them a day or two before a bake sale, party, or busy week. Just store in an airtight container in the fridge to keep them fresh.
    • Once set, wrap the cereal bars individually in parchment or wax paper and place them in a box or tin. A delicious homemade peanut butter dessert recipe that travels well and feels thoughtful, making it perfect for gifting.
    • Whether you go for dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or a mix, use good-quality chopped chocolate for that glossy, delicious layer of chocolate on top.
    • For clean, even slices, let the bars chill until fully firm. Use a sharp knife and wipe it clean between cuts.
