Masala Chai Frappe aka Frappuccino is basically a new interesting look to our regular beloved Masala Chai.

Masala Chai Frappe is my version of the famous Starbucks Frappuccino. Frappucino; ofcourse is made out of coffee powder; but my love for chai made me try it with tea leaves instead.

Masala Chai Frappe is not the Chai (Tea) Latte that has gained much popularity these days.

Masala Chai Frappe instead is basically a frothy chilled version of our regular Chai that we drink on a daily basis.

So what do you add to your Masala Chai?

I usually add elaichi (cardamom pods) and just a little clove.

I am not a big fan of adrak (ginger) chai and don't prefer cinnamon too.

But I know for a fact that most of us happen to love adrak wala chai. In fact if one doesn't drink it right in the morning they happen to get a severe headache that day.

The same is so true with a coffee lover too just like my Mom and Dad.

To be honest I am not a chai or a coffee drinker. I mean I do not consume it on a daily basis however if given an option would love to drink chai anytime.

And I like elaichi wali chai more.. <3 masala chai frappe masala chai frappuccino chai frappe chai frappuccino spiced tea frappe spiced tea frapuccino tea frappe starbucks style tea latte starbucks style spiced tea frappe frappuccino

And my love for chai is what made my try this Masala Chai Frappe and also this Masala Chai Ice-cream which I also happen to make to celebrate my daughter's first Little Krishna Theme Birthday party.

So basically for making a Masala Chai Frappe, all you have to do is make a regular Chai and then blend it with ice and vanilla ice-cream to make a Frappe. I mean thats it, nothing could be simpler than this right!!

Blending with ice and ice-cream is what makes it so frothy; a typical characteristic of a Frappuccino. Take care not to over-blend or else you will end up losing the froth.

    • 1/2 cup water
    • 3 nos cardamom pods
    • 1 no clove
    • 2 tsp good quality Tea leaves (refer notes)
    • 3 tsp Sugar (or to taste)
    • 1.5 cups Milk
    • 2-3 nos ice cubes
    • 5 scoops Vanilla Ice-Cream
    • More ice while serving
    • Whipped cream and masala chai powder for garnishin

    Instructions

    • Take the water in a pot. Open the cardamom pods slightly and add to the water along with the clove. Bring this to a boil
    • Once it begins to boil a bit add in the tea leaves and sugar. Bring this to a complete rolling boil.
    • Add in the milk. Let this boil for atleast 4 times. Once it is boiled 4-5 times then pass it through the sieve to collect the masala chai. Let this cool a bit.
    • Once cooled add the ice-cubes and vanilla ice-cream and blend until smooth. (Do not blend too much or else the frappe will become too thin and wont have enough froth on top).
    • Let this stand for 5 mins. The froth will collect on top. Pour onto large serving glasses. Spoon the froth on top and finish off with whipped cream and masala chai powder for garnishing.

    Notes:
    1. It is important to use good quality tea leaves for the added flavour. This is not a very strong tea if you like strong flavour then add upto 3 tsp. Adjust sugar as per taste.
    2. Do not blend too much or else the frappe will be too thin to serve.
    3. Let it stand for 5 mins once blended so that the froth collects on top.
